Chapter 6

AFTER WHAT HAPPENED in Sebastian’s office, Abigail was torn. There was just too much chemistry between the two of them. It was almost scary how intense it was. Not to forget how easily he had flipped on her in the office. One moment he was complimenting her, and the next he was saying he wanted an exclusive donor.

Since the moment she had met him, Sebastian had been a mystery. It seemed every time she learned something new about him or thought she had him figured out, he did something that threw her through a loop. Like her being a witch. If her mother was correct, he should have jumped her the moment he found out. Gone for the artery and what not.

But he hadn’t. He hadn’t even looked at her neck or mentioned biting her. Besides the times in the club, he seemed to avoid her neck at all costs. Even when they kissed in her apartment, he had kept his mouth on hers, careful not to nick her again.

To be honest it made her a bit self-conscious. Was there something wrong with her blood? Was it not good enough for him? There was no way of her knowing without going and asking him directly, something she didn’t want to do.

“Abigail!” a voice yelled in her ear followed by a pounding on her desk.

Jerking her gaze from where her eyes had been drilling a hole in Sebastian’s door, she glanced up to see Mandy, frowning down at her. “Sorry. I guess I’m just a little zoned out. Did you need something?”

“I’d say,” Mandy muttered before her frown turned into her usual smile. “I was asking you if you had a chance to look over the applicants for Mr. Storm’s new secretary?”

“New secretary?” Abigail’s eyes widened in alarm. Was she getting fired? She should have known this job was too good to be true. She messed around with the boss and now he was giving her the boot.

Her panic was replaced with anger at the thought. How dare he use her and then discard her? Like she was some kind of slut that he could get rid of when he got tired of her.

Her magic crackled under her fingertips, and she clenched her hands into a fist giving Mandy a tight smile.

“What applications?”

“Oh, honey.” The blonde’s expression softened. “I didn’t mean for your job. No. No. He’s hiring a new daytime one. Patricia is having a baby and decided not to come back to work too.” She gave a sort of awkward chuckle. “Must be something in the water, am I right? Next thing you know, you’ll be pregnant and we’ll need to find your replacement too.”

Abigail didn’t respond to the woman’s joke not sure what to say. Especially, since she was almost sleeping with the boss. How well would that go over? Based on how Sebastian had been ignoring her all day, she would imagine not very well.

“Well, let me know when you have a moment to look them over,” Mandy continued not noticing the tension in Abigail’s form.
